I can't keep up

So it seems like everyday Ollie is saying or expressing a zillion new things. Yesterday he opened his Eric Carle book and showed me the "hos" (horse) and duck. He is calling crayons "color" and is saying "bite" when he wants a bit of my food. His little voice is so cute that I explode with snuggles and warm fuzzies. Really.

AND I must say. Even though he runs into my arms when I pick him up at daycare, and EVEN THOUGH he snuggles right into me when he is tired, hurt or upset. I can feel a change a comin'. He is pulling away ... the way children do. A week ago he would hold my hand the entire way down a flight of stairs. Yesterday he let go a few steps before we hit the bottom and today it was even more steps before the bottom. Apparently clinging to the railing is cooler than having mommy help. It's bitter sweet really—wonderful to see him grow and sad to know he needs me just a smidge less everyday.
